Suriya's "Karuppu" hasn't yet entered the list of the Top 10 highest-grossing Tamil films of all time, but it soon will be. The RJ Balaji directorial, which has already earned Rs 275 crore worldwide, is on track to enter the elite list as it eyes the Rs 300 crore mark, which is expected to be achieved within the next week. The film is currently in its third week, having already completed exactly 14 days.
The immediate targets of "Karuppu" are the records of "Varisu" and "Bigil", breaking which will get the Suriya film into the places formerly occupied by the two Vijay hits, and in turn, the Top 10 list. When “Karuppu” breaches the 300 crore mark, which undoubtedly it will, it will mark Suriya’s first film to enter this elite club as well.
The list currently is dominated by Rajinikanth (3 films) and Vijay (4 films). "Karuppu" needs roughly Rs 23.5 crore more to displace "Varisu" (Rs 297.55 crore) and "Bigil" (Rs 295.28 crore), before it can displace Sivakarthikeyan's "Amaran" (Rs 333.67 crore).
In terms of regional performance, Tamil Nadu is, obviously, the most dominant market. The home state represents roughly 63% of the total domestic gross revenue, peaking significantly during evening and night show turnouts. About 125 crore of the cumulative gross came from Tamil Nadu alone. The Telugu states brought in the second-largest revenue (32.50 crore) owing to Suriya's massive popularity in these regions. Karnataka brought in Rs 22 crore, and Kerala Rs 16 crore.
Internationally, "Karuppu" has earned a cumulative gross of Rs 75.75 crore as of Day 15. The highest share of these numbers comes from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, North America, and Southeast Asia (specifically Malaysia and Singapore), where Suriya holds a strong, loyal fanbase.
Currently, the India gross has come up to 198.28 crore and net earnings to 171.40 crore. It has already the distinction of being Suriya's highest-grossing film of all time and the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026.
