Prime Video has officially announced the streaming date for the third season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power". It will be released globally from November 11, 2026. The confirmation was made at Amazon's annual upfront presentation.
“From the very beginning, this series has embodied the scale, ambition, and cinematic storytelling that define Prime Video’s biggest global series,” said Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television, Amazon MGM Studios, in an official press statement. “The extraordinary response from millions of fans around the world has made it clear that this journey through Middle-earth continues to resonate, and that momentum has only grown heading into Season Three."
The new season will jump forward several years from the events of Season 2, the story focusing on the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron. The latter's attempt to craft the One Ring to gain a decisive advantage in his conquest of Middle-earth will be the central focus of Season 3.
Early previews suggest the legendary blade Narsil will appear, and locations like Lindon, Khazad-dûm, and the newly established Rivendell are expected to be major battlegrounds.
The new chapter will see the return of actors Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Charlie Vickers as Sauron, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, and Daniel Weyman as The Stranger / Gandalf.
Season Three of "The Rings of Power" is backed by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne, Patrick McKay, Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and executive producer-director Charlotte Brandstrom. Matthew Penry-Davey is jointly producing it with Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee in association with Amazon MGM Studios.
One of the most-viewed shows on Prime Video, the first season was for the streamer the biggest TV series premiere, while the second season joined the Top 5 most-watched returning seasons ever.
