After 16 days in theatres, "Bhooth Bangla" has turned out to be Akshay Kumar's biggest hit in a long time. The film has already crossed the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide by Day 16, marking a significant milestone, especially with a steady net of Rs 4.35 crore on a weekday, as per Sacnilk's box office scores.

With a total worldwide gross of approximately Rs 217.73 crore, the film is holding well both in India and internationally. It's a solid performance, especially given its Rs 120 crore budget. By Day 16, it has already been declared a clean hit, surpassing its production and marketing costs in just 12 days.

While it faced a clash with "Dhurandhar 2", it managed to take the lead in daily earnings during its second weekend due to strong family audience appeal.

"Bhooth Bangla" is also Akshay's most successful horror-comedy since the original "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" (2007), also directed by Priyadarshan. It has also effectively ended a dry spell for Akshay Kumar, outperforming several of his high-profile action and drama films released in 2024 and 2025.

It has outperformed the actor's recent outings, like "Jolly LLB", "Sky Force", "Mission Raniganj" and "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan". However, it trails "Housefull 5". It is currently his 5th highest-grossing film in the post-pandemic era globally.

The Rs 217 crore worldwide gross in 16 days also places it ahead of other original horror-comedies like "Stree", "Munjya" and "Roohi". Though it lacks the massive breakout momentum of "Stree", it has significantly outpaced Akshay's high-budget disappointments from recent years.

While "Bhooth Bangla has higher total figures due to a wider release and inflation, its Day 16 hold is remarkably similar to the original Stree, which was a legendary "sleeper hit." In net earnings, "Bhooth Bangla" collected Rs 4.35 crore, which is slightly higher than the Rs 3.76 crore collected by "Stree" on its 16th day.

Its domestic net currently stands at Rs 137.00 crore, already surpassing the entire lifetime domestic collection of the original "Stree" (approx. Rs 129.90 crore). However, we must remember that "Stree" was a lower-budget film (Rs 30 crore) that saw massive growth over time. On the other hand, "Bhooth Bangla", with a larger budget of Rs 120 crore, required this faster pace to be declared a clean hit.

The film's success is largely attributed to the reunion of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan after a 16-year gap. They recently completed another movie, a thriller titled “Haiwaan” co-starring Sai Ali Khan, with Mohanlal in a cameo appearance. The film is reportedly the Hindi remake of Mohanlal-Priyadarshan’s “Oppam”.
