A new show from the Paramount+ stable, based on an established property with a winning formula, is currently in production. The lead character of this new show is Russell Lee Washington Jr, played by Samuel Jackson, who showed up in the final segment of the third season of Sylvester Stallone's "Tulsa King".
Centered on this character, a hitman-turned-kingpin, "Frisco King" was originally titled NOLA King,. It was originally planned to be set in New Orleans but later shifted to North Texas. The location shift is keeping in mind the "fish out of water" aspect of the story where Washington Jr. leaves his New Orleans roots to build his own empire in Frisco, Texas.
Creator Taylor Sheridan, who also made "Yellowstone" and "Landman" (and all the spin-offs in that Western universe), is back as well,, to write all eight episodes.
Filming officially commenced in late March 2026 in Fort Worth, Texas. As of late April 2026, the "Frisco King" have reportedly been filming in Southlake Town Square and Grapevine, causing local road closures.
Recently, Stallone shared behind-the-scenes footage and on-set, confirming his appearance alongside Jackson in the series. However, it's not clear whether it will be a brief presence just as Jackson did in the former's show. But what we know so far is that both characters are integral parts of each other's world.
Other key cast members include Asa Germann ("Gen V"), Kai Caster, Lilah Pate, and Savanna Gann.
"Frisco King" will land on Paramount+ sometime in early 2027, according to early reports.
What's the status on 'Tulsa King' Season 4?
Meanwhile, it was already confirmed that "Tulsa King" will get a fourth season, the events of which are expected to run parallely with those of "Frisco King".
Filming for Tulsa King Season 4 is officially completed, with the team announcing the wrap on March 28, 2026. Stallone shared in mid-April that the latest season is in the middle of post-production, teasing that it's the "best yet."
Showrunner Terence Winter, who stepped back in Season 2, returns this time around as head writer and executive producer.
Garrett Hedlund, who played Mitch Keller in Season 3, has confirmed his return with a picture of him with Stallone.
Season 4 of "Tulsa King" is expected to premiere in late 2026.
