Akshay Kumar's latest release, "Bhooth Bangla", has opened with strong numbers. The Priyadarshan-directed horror-comedy earned 55% more on the second day, with Sacnilk box office data showing net earnings of Rs 19 crore from Rs 12.25 crore on Day 1, from 11,513 shows.
This takes its total India net figures to Rs 35 crore and India gross total to Rs 42 crore. And with a total of Rs 18.50 crore from overseas, the film's worldwide total now stands at Rs 60.50 crore. This includes the earnings from Thursday's paid previews.
It is currently the third biggest Bollywood opener of 2026, as of April 19, 2026, behind "Dhurandhar 2" (Rs 202.14 crore) and "Border 2" (Rs 45.66 crore).
"Bhooth Bangla" earned approximately Rs 31.1 crore worldwide on its first day. It also joins the list of Akshay Kumar's stronger post-pandemic global openers, marking the the actor's third-biggest behind "Housefull 5" (Rs 24.35 crore) and "Sooryavanshi" (Rs 26.29 crore).
It has also entered his top 10 highest domestic openers of all time, ranking in 9th place.
It also marks the biggest opening for the Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan duo in over 15 years, surpassing their earlier collaboration "Khatta Meetha".
The film is showing strong momentum through its first weekend, with the combined Day 2 and Day 3 collections expected to push it past the Rs 50 crore mark in India. The solid numbers on Saturday are being seen as a healthy indicator of a longer run, according to some trade analysts.
When comparing its performance with other recent horror-comedy blockbusters, though, "Bhooth Bangla" has surpassed the benchmark of another original standalone IP, "Stree" (₹10.87 crore). However, we must also remember that "Stree" was a relatively smaller release at the time.
However, "Bhooth Bangla" lags behind another original horror-comedy "Thamma" (Rs 25.11 crore) in terms of second-day earnings.
Most recent original horror-comedies such as "Munjya" and "Bhediya" started much lower but relied on exceptional Day 2 jumps (up to 85%) to sustain their runs. The 55% jump of "Bhooth Bangala" is healthy but sits below the "sleeper hit" trajectory of "Munjya".
"Bhooth Bangla" also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Mithila Palkar, Rajpal Yadav, and Manoj Joshi, among others.
