Veteran singer Asha Bhosle was admitted to the intensive care unit at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday after she suffered a cardiac arrest.

Some reports have claimed that the condition of the 92-year-old is critical.  The hospital has not released any official statement. Her family members were also yet to publicly respond when this article was published.

The playback singer, whose career spans more than seven decades, has recorded more than 12,000 songs in more than 20 languages. She was conferred the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

She is the youner sister of late singer Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away in 2022. Bhosle made her acting debut in the film, Mai, in 2013, playing the role of a mother who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. It received positive reviews from critics.

She is known for collaborating with composer R.D. Burman in songs like Dum Maro Dum, Piya Tu Ab To Aaja, Yeh Mera Dil, Hungama Ho Gaya and Jawani Jan-e-man. Her duets with Mohammed Rafi include Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar, Uden Jab Jab Zulfen Teri and O Mere Sona Re Sona Re while her iconic duets with Kishore Kumar include Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, Ek Main Aur Ek Tu and Nahin Nahin Abhi Nahin.

She also pioneered the Indipop scene with Kambakth Ishq, Rangeela Re and Jaanam Samjha Karo.
