Something unprecedented is being witnessed at the Kerala box office. The coming-of-age sequel, which did big numbers worldwide in a week — Rs 110+ crore worldwide, compared to the first film's Rs 38 crore global gross, registered its biggest second Thursday mark.

To give a clearer picture, the sequel, headlined by influencer-turned-actor Haashir, recorded Rs 8.50 crores on its second Thursday, according to tracking portal Sacnilk, which notes an 85% jump compared to the first Thursday (day of release). On Day 1, it had grossed Rs 4.75 crore.

The second Thursday gross is also the biggest weekday earnings since the first Sunday Rs. 8.55 crore. From Day 3 onwards through Day 8, the film has been maintaining a daily gross of above 7 crores. This surge in daily collections is undoubtedly impressive for a film with no big stars. All the lead actors are newcomers.

A simple coming-of-age drama rooted in real emotions and fronted by content creators-turned-debutant actors who were not the leads in the first film but merely background characters, "Vaazha 2" doing a daily business of around Rs 4 crore - Rs 9 crore is extraordinary.

Its domestic gross now stands at Rs 64 crores, and is expected to hit the 100-crore mark after the second weekend gets over. As of now, only "Lokah Chapter 1 - Chandra" and "Thudarum" have managed to pull this off.
