In the Malayalam film industry, achieving a Rs 80 crore worldwide gross within just five days is a rare feat, one normally associated with a big franchise entry or a star-driven vehicle. However, "Vaazha 2" has broken all those rules. It's now close to achieving the opening 5-day record of "Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra", with a total worldwide gross of around Rs 79 crore, in five days, as per Sacnilk data.
The film's total India gross collection stands at Rs 38.04 crore after five days, and its total India net collection is Rs 32.85 crore so far. Combined with the total overseas gross of Rs 40.90 crore, the worldwide gross amounts to Rs 79 crore.
Previously, the Kalyani Priyadarshan-led superhero epic collected Rs 80 crore in the same time (a benchmark-setting milestone considering its titular protagonist is a woman). What "Vaazha 2", also known as "Vaazha II: Biopic of a Billion Bros", did is even more impressive considering it's not a big-scale entertainer, with no VFX-driven sequences or fantasy elements.

Though a sequel, it's just a simple coming-of-age drama rooted in real emotions and fronted by content creators-turned-debutant actors who were not the leads in the first film but merely background characters. For a film like that, a daily business of around Rs 4 crore - Rs 9 crore is extraordinary.
Aside from "Lokah", other recent Malayalam films to achieve this number within a short span were "Aadu 3", with a reported worldwide gross of around Rs 88 crore. Directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, it is the third instalment of a movie series that has an established fan base. Interestingly, the first movie didn't do well at the box office, but it attained a cult following after its online release.
At the end of its opening five-day run, "Aadu 3" is said to be the highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2026 so far, and the first Malayalam film of 2026 to enter the Rs 100-crore club, with a total worldwide gross of Rs 118 crore so far. However, there's a strong possibility that "Vaazha 2" could dethrone it.
