If Robert Pattinson is returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Andy Serkis isn't returning as The Butler for "The Batman - Part II", it wouldn't be as exciting, because the latter was a significant presence in 2022's "The Batman" despite audiences' longtime association of the character with actor Michael Caine.
Serkis recently confirmed his involvement as Alfred Pennyworth (AKA The Butler), who also happens to be a mentor and father-like figure to Wayne after the death of his parents.
Colin Farrell, who won the Golden Globe for his performance in the series "The Penguin", will reprise the character. Joining him are Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent and Scarlett Johansson in a secret role. Filming is expected to commence in June.
Serkis was talking to the press while promoting his new directorial "Animal Farm", which is based on the novella of the same name by George Orwell.
"I'm pretty certain it's all going to work out. Yeah, we're working on it, but I think it's all looking good," he updated on the "Batman" sequel while interacting with entertainment portal Collider.
Serkis is directing a new entry in the "Lord of the Rings" franchise, titled "The Hunt for Gollum". He will be directing himself in his now-iconic role of Gollum. It is slated for a 2027 release on December 17.
