Grammys 2026: Bad Bunny wins Album of the Year, hits out at Trump's ICE during speech

Bad Bunny made Grammy history with three wins on Sunday, including Album of the Year for a Spanish-language record. The star also deliverd an anti-ICE speech along with other musicians on stage

Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny took home three Grammy awards this year for Album of the year, best música urbana album and Global Music Performance, becoming the first artist to win a major award with a song entirely sung in Spanish. The star used his time on the Grammy stage to send a message against Donald Trump's ICE.

“Before I say thanks to God, I’m gonna say ICE out,”

We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we’re humans, and we are Americans … The only thing more powerful than hate is love, so please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We don’t hate them, we love our people, we love our families, and that’s the way to do it, we love.”

Bad Bunny is also the first Spanish language artist to win Album of the Year in the Awards 68 year history of the awards for his 6th album, Debí Tirar Mas Fotos. He beat out Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar and Sabrina Carpenter in the category.

The singer, whose real name is Benito Ocasio, used the rest of his speech to call for more love. "I know it's tough not to hate on these days. The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love,” he said.

The star is set to make his first ever appearace at the Super Bowl stage next week, where he will become the first Latino and Spanish‑speaking solo headliner.

Speaking on the Super Bowl performance by Bad Bunny and GreenDay Trump had said, "I'm anti-them,"  "I think it's a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible."

Billie Eilish also used her time on stage whle winnning song of the year to call out ICE.  “No one is illegal on stolen land,” she said on stage. “It’s really hard to know what to say or what to do right now. … we need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting.” "Our voices really do matter, and people matter, and 'f*** ICE' is all I want to say," she said during her acceptance speech for Wildflower.

SZA, who won record of the year for her collab with Kendrick Lamar, also made a similar message: "Please don't fall into despair," SZA said.

"We can go on, we need each other, we need to trust each other and trust ourselves. Trust your heart. We're not governed by the government, we're governed by God,” she continued.

Kendrick Lamar became the most awarded rapper in Grammy history on Sunday, breaking the record held by Jay-Z with 27 awards. He won five awards this year, including record of the year for Luther with SZA, rap song and rap album.

British singer-songwriter Olivia Dead took home her first-ever award, the Best New artist for her album The Art of Loving and hit single "Man I Need."
