Chiranjeevi's latest release Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu is off to a superb start at the worldwide box office. The film recorded a worldwide gross of Rs 64 crore on its opening day, making it the veteran superstar's second biggest opening of all time. It collected above Rs 35 crore gross in India as well, showing a superb start at the ticket counters.
It must be noted that Prabhas' The Raja Saab is already running in theatres and while the film has declined considerably over the last three days, it still has the screencount till Thursday, which means that Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu couldn't open at full capacity like a solo release would.
Taking this into account, the first day for the Chiranjeevi starrer is outstanding and the second day trends are showing signs of a blockbuster run for the film. There is an inevitable drop, as is the case for any Telugu film due to the box office dynamics, but the drop isn't significant at all.
In fact, the opening day nett figures of Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu stood at Rs 29 crore in India and the second day is looking at the Rs 20 crore mark. The film has touched Rs 7.50 crore already by late afternoon, and there will be huge jumps through the evening and night shows, even with pre-Sankranthi factor at play.
It is too early to predict as trends can change but the initial talk for Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu looks to be on the mixed to positive side, and the Sankranthi season is favourable for this genre. Add Chiranjeevi's stardom factor and a blockbuster seems to be on the cards if this trend continues.
