After a weak start to the first day, The Raja Saab eventually ended the opening day on a decent note. The film collected Rs 52 crore nett in India across all languages - respectable figure for sure but Rs 45 crore of this came from the Telugu states where the market dynamics for the opening day are always bound to be higher.
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has the potential to see Rs 60 crore nett or above on the opening day for top-tier heroes. Which is why The Raja Saab's figures don't look that great in comparison. The overwhelming number of fans shows which have exorbitant ticket rates are added to the first day collections, something that is not common in the other parts of India.
That's why films inevitably suffer a drop in collections from the second day onwards, as the fans shows and special shows aren't there anymore. The Raja Saab is experiencing mixed to negative feedback from the users, although the comedy genre does give it some hope in this Sankranthi season. Apart from this, additional footage will be added to the film from the evening shows of the second day onwards.
Whether all this will help The Raja Saab to stay afloat the box office remains to be seen. However, it is undeniable that the film is reporting a huge fall in collections on its second day and it will now need the third day to show a more solid trend. Till late afternoon on the opening day, the tracked collections were around Rs 15-16 crore nett, the same figure on the second day is only Rs 8 crore nett.
The Raja Saab is practically done in Kerala and Tamil Nadu while Karnataka also looks bleak barring Bengaluru. In the northern belt, the opening did get some boost due to corporate feeding but it matters little as the weekend will barely be Rs 25 crore nett - a massive dent for a film made on a reported budget of Rs 300 crore.
As per trends, The Raja Saab is on course of around Rs 25-30 crore nett on its second day. The final collections could go a bit higher depending on the evening and night shows in the Telugu states.
