Records are meant to be broken, we all know that. However, the manner in which Dhurandhar tore apart the record books over the last one month was unprecedented. The last time Hindi cinema saw a blockbuster of such proportions was probably during Dangal and before that, during the time of Gadar and Hum Aapke Hain Koun.
As reported earlier, Dhurandhar was on track to break the all-time Hindi nett record in India held by Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2. On Day 33, the film has gone past that figure comfortably with Tuesday's trends showing marginal jump in occupancy when compared to Monday. This is on expected lines, given that Tuesdays have seen discounted offers on major ticketing platforms across India.
As per early estimates, Dhurandhar is set for Rs 4-5 crore nett on its 33rd day and will breach Rs 740 crore nett in India, overtaking Pushpa 2's figure of Rs 738 crore nett. The Ranveer Singh starrer showed its first major drop on the 32nd day of run but that wasn't unexpected, considering that the long Christmas-New Year holiday period is now officially over.

The Pongal-Sankranti releases are on their way with a flurry of releases expected between January 9-12 in southern parts of India. It will ensure a clean up of Dhurandhar's screencount in that region and northern parts will also see an effect due to The Raja Saab, Prabhas' Sankranti film that has a wide release in Hindi too.
Nevertheless, Dhurandhar has had an incredible box office run and it still has a bit of steam in it to last for another week or so. The worldwide gross is heading towards Rs 1200 crore, a landmark very few Bollywood films have breached previously. With such a record-breaking run, the stage is set for the sequel to set further benchmarks, when it releases on March 19 this year.
