Last year, production house Bhavana Studios — run by Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan, and Syam Pushkaran — announced their next film with Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju. Titled Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, the film, which is touted as a rural rom-com, is helmed by Girish AD (Premalu, Thanneer Mathan Dinangal).
In the interviews accompanying his latest release, Sarvam Maya, Nivin expressed his eagerness to work with Girish and act in more lighthearted entertainers that fit the funny, relatable everyman image with which most people associate the actor, beginning with his debut, Malarvadi Arts Club, through Premam, to Sarvam Maya.
Bethlehem Kudumba Unit marks Girish's third collaboration with Mamitha Baiju, following Super Sharanya and Premalu.
Since Girish has, at the moment, firmly established himself as a hot property director with a strong track record comprising multiple feel-good entertainers that worked wonders at the box office — from his feature-length debut Thanneer Mathan Dinangal to his biggest blockbuster Premalu — it remains to be seen how his magic gets the best out of Nivin.
One thing is for sure: It's a dream combo, as far as casting for a feel-good movie is concerned.
Girish, who will direct from a script he co-wrote with Kiran Josey, is backed by a strong technical crew comprising director of photography Ajmal Sabu, composer Vishnu Vijay, and editor Akash Joseph Varghese.
Meanwhile, Sarvam Maya continues to do well at the box office. It was written and directed by Akhil Sathyan, who made his debut with Fahadh Faasil-starrer Paachuvum Athbudha Vilakkum.
