A streaming date for actor Sharafudheen's Malayalam comedy The Pet Detective has been announced. Zee5 will stream the film from November 28.
Co-starring Anupama Parameshwaran, Vinay Forrt, Renji Panicker, Vinayakan, and Shyam Mohan among others, the film was released in theatres on October 16. The Praneesh Vijayan directorial was produced by Sharafudheen and Gokulam Gopalan.
In its review of the film, THE WEEK wrote that the film contains a "few enjoyable situations where Sharafudheen proves himself quite handy with fights and physical humour," and that there is a "sense of randomness to every event" with "chaos of both the good and bad kind."
"We are bombarded with a truckload of characters, with little to no explanation given for their motivations. Things just happen. We know who the good and bad guys are. We know someone has to get from Point A to Point B. If a movie has you wondering why a certain character was doing something or makes you work hard to remember their names, this suggests everything was written in a rush," said the review. An elaborate sequence set in a theme park was praised for its ingenuity. "This moment involves many groups involved in the chase to retrieve the aforementioned valuable object, and all of them have no option but to participate in all the rides in the theme park," it added.
