Tanya Maniktala (Kill, A Suitable Boy) is soon going to share the screen with Rajkummar Rao.
As per an IANS report, the film is helmed by Aditya Nimbalkar, and will delve into issues in India's education system. Nimbalakar is known for Sector 36, starring Vikrant Massey.
The film is expected to be a portrait of the challenges faced by both students and educators.
“This film is deeply personal for everyone involved. Aditya has approached the subject with remarkable depth, and both Rajkummar and Tanya bring incredible depth to their parts. Tanya’s character, in particular, reflects the voice of many young Indians who are navigating the expectations and realities of a demanding system,” said a source.
Keerthy Suresh is also reportedly part of the cast, according to a report in Mid-Day, which adds that Rao is involved in a producing capacity as well. Both Rao and spouse Patralekhaa run their production house KAMPA Films.
Primarily a television actor, Maniktala made her feature-length acting debut in Santhosh Sivan's Mumbaikar, a remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Maanagaram. Kill was her second feature, a gritty action thriller directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, and praised by critics. She was recently seen in the web series Loot Kand, streaming on Amazon MX Player.
Meanwhile, Rao, last seen in Maalik, is looking forward to the release of Netflix original Toaster. Directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary, Toaster is a quirky story that has to do with a miser, a toaster, murder and mayhem. The other cast members are Sanya Malhotra, Archana Puran Singh, Upendra Limaye, Farah Khan, Abhishek Banerjee (Rao's co-star from the Stree films) and Seema Pahwa.
