In what comes across as a stunning piece of news, actors Rajinikanth and Dhanush had reportedly received bomb threats through e-mail. The mails weren't sent to the actors personally, but instead were received by the Director General of Police (Tamil Nadu).
The email mentioned about bomb threats to the two actors and the sender claimed to have set up explosives at their respective residences in Chennai. On receiving the mail, police sprung into action and detailed scanning was done at both the residences. Eventually, nothing came of it and the threats have been proven to be fake.
Rajinikanth and Dhanush weren't the only people to get these threats. Tamil Nadu Congress Chief K Selvaperunthagai also received a threat on similar lines. The Greater Chennai Police checked the politican's residence as well, and this threat was also proven to be fake. No traces of explosives were found in any of the three residences.
These fake bomb threats have become an unwarranted trend in Tamil Nadu recently. Popular actress Trisha received a similar threat at the start of October and similar mails have been floating around about a number of other famous personalities. With the number of emails increasing by the day, Tamil Nadu police has ramped up their investigation in a bid to nab the sender at the earliest.
