Dulquer Salmaan is on riding an unprecedented wave at the moment in Mollywood. While he hasn't done a full-fledged film in Malayalam since King of Kotha, his latest production venture Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is on fire at the box office worldwide. Produced by his banner Wayfarer Films, this Dominic Arun directorial features Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in lead roles with a host of other star cameos. After the first four days, Lokah has recorded a plethora of benchmarks at the box office.
Right from the posters till the official trailer, the film built hype steadily and the excellent word-of-mouth has only fuelled the film towards a point where sky is the limit as far as its final worldwide collections are concerned. Despite competition from a Mohanlal-starrer in Hridayapoorvam and Fahadh Faasil's Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has already established itself as the runaway winner at the Onam box office.
After a strong start on the opening day where it recorded figures lower than Hridayapoorvam, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra neutralised that deficit and extended its lead with an astounding upward trend over the next three days. The four-day Kerala gross collection stands at ₹16.35 crores with a sensational trend across the four days.
Day 1: ₹2.70 crores
Day 2: ₹3.35 crores
Day 3: ₹4.65 crores
Day 4: 5.65 crores
While the business in Kerala is mind-boggling, the business outside the state is on an even bigger level. The four-day worldwide gross of the film stands at approximately ₹65.50 crores, making it the third-highest Mollywood opening weekend of all time, behind Empuraan and Thudarum.
The top-5 Mollywood opening weekends globally are:
1. Empuraan (2025) - ₹175.6 Crores (4 Days)
2. Thudarum (2025) - ₹69.25 Crores (3 Days)
3. Lokah (2025) - ₹65.50 Crores (estimated in 4 days)
4. Aadujeevitham (2024) - ₹64.10 Crores (4 days)
5. Lucifer (2019) - ₹55.40 Crores (4 days)

On it's fourth day, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra zoomed past 50 crores, making it the third-fastest Malayalam film to achieve this feat. The films above it are, expectedly, Empuraan and Thudarum.
Fastest 50-crore films worldwide in Mollywood
1)Empuraan - 1 Day (Opening Day)
2)Thudarum - 3 Days
3)Aadujeevitham - 4 Days
4)Lokah - 4 Days
5)Lucifer - 4 Days
On it's third and fourth day, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra recorded a worldwide gross of over ₹20 crores respectively, putting it into an elite club of Malayalam films to record the highest single day collections globally. It is the only non-Mohanlal film to achieve this benchmark till date.
The film is also going to zoom past ₹100 crores worldwide and will also comfortably race past the ₹150 crores before the end of its run. That will make it the first woman-centric film from South India to get into the ₹100 crore club. As of now, Keerthi Suesh's Mahanati, which grossed around ₹86 crores, is the highest in this category.

In fact, the latest trend suggest that Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra will also go past ₹200 crores worldwide, making it the fourth Mollywood film to achieve this feat. Manjummel Boys, Empuraan and Thudarum are the current Mollywood films to achieve this benchmark.
It will need to sustain this momentum for another two weeks to get there but with historic feedback from viewers and festival weekend, there seems to be no stopping this fantasy action film.
