Malayalam actress Rini Ann George has accused Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil of sending her inappropriate text messages. She first levelled the allegations against him in an interview with Kaumudy Movies, after which she addressed the press on the matter.

OnManorama reported that the actress’ first interaction with Mamkootathil came three years ago. She said, “I received inappropriate messages from the politician. He invited me to a location to spend time with him. When I told him that I would complain about him, he challenged me to go through with it. ‘Who cares?’ was his attitude.”

Rini soon learnt that she was not the only woman that Mamkootathil had texted. "I have not suffered any assault; I only received these messages. But through my friends, I learned that several other women faced harassment, and I am speaking up for them," she said.

Joining the bandwagon, author Honey Bhaskaran also levelled similar allegations against the MLA. In a Facebook post, Bhaskaran revealed that Mamkootathil approached her through Instagram in early June and quickly felt uneasy.

Many others have also come forward with similar claims.
