Exactly two months after the film was initially scheduled to hit the big screens, Vijay Deverakonda’s action-heavy Kingdom stormed its way to the theatres on Thursday, much to the relief of those who have been patiently waiting.
Now that the film is out, opinions on the Gowtam Tinnanuri directorial are being voiced loudly on social media, and it is not the verdict that the makers were hoping for. According to netizens, once the initial buzz faded, Kingdom fell short of expectations.
One user wrote that the film was not “outright bad” and that Deverakonda’s performance was decent.

Firstly, I was really excited for the film. I've been waiting for it since I heard the name Gowtham Thinnanuri. The hype lived up to my expectations until I watched the film. It wasn't outright bad but I expected more. VD was good. Satya Dev was sufficient. pic.twitter.com/3GrDG3vVEt
Another warned fans to manage their expectation before approaching Kingdom.

A Passable Movie, with a lack of emotional connection, unlike Goutham's previous venture Jersey, you wont feel anything about the core emotion that the director intended, nonetheless never boring, splendid cinetagraphy and technical values.
2.75/5
One netizen compared it to Tinnanuri’s previous directorial Jersey, saying it lacked the emotional depth that the latter showcased.

Another user claims that paid reviews were distorting the film’s true response, and not in a good way.

Everyone thought it would be a comeback film for VD. Initially, #Kingdom team managed to create some hype with paid positive reviews.
But now, negative reviews are slowly coming out from genuine audiences 🙏 pic.twitter.com/M6itvD8pba
One user noted that the film used Ravichander’s background music to “cover the hollow scenes”.

– First Half: ⭐ 0.5/5
Dragged to the core… recycled mass elevations, pointless emotions, loud BGM trying hard to cover the hollow scenes.

Another did not have a kind word to spare for the film, stating that the plot felt “forced” and that Anirudh Ravichander’s musical composition fell flat.

World building is a failure. it just failed to take off
Everything feels forced
Not even couple of elevation/high scene
Music is very bad
Nothing worked for me
