The first look poster for 'Karam', Vineeth Srinivasan's foray into darker cinema, was released on Wednesday by Merryland Cinemas and Habit of Life.

The poster features producer, screenwriter, and actor Noble Babu Thomas as the lead, fending off someone (or someTHING, perhaps?) with a gun, highlighting the possibly gritty, action-packed nature of the story. He is also the screenwriter for this film, slated to release on September 25.

In the meantime, Sreenivasan confirmed that unlike his previous films, the story will not be set in Chennai or have any connection to the city. In fact, the high-budget film was shot in Georgia, and across the borders of Russia and Azerbaijan. Five days of shooting also took place in Shimla and Chandigarh, with only one day of shooting in Kochi.

The film is produced by Vinay Srinivasan and Visakh Subramaniam, following their successful collaborations on box office hits such as 'Hridayam' and 'Varshangalkku Shesham'. 'Karam' also marks Vinay's return to producing after 'Aanandam' and 'Helen'.

Seventy years after the release of 'CID' (1955), one of Malayalam cinema's first crime thrillers, Merryland returns to the genre with 'Karam' which has already generated high audience anticipation due to director Vineeth Sreenivasan's unexpected genre switch.

Audrey Miriam and Reshma Sebastian play the female leads. Manoj K. Jayan, Kalabhavan Shajon, Baburaj, Vishnu G. Warrier, and Johny Antony are among the other cast members.

'Karam' also marks another collaboration between Vinay Sreenivasan's Habit of Life productions, cinematographer Jomon T. John, and music composer Shaan Rahman, after 'Thattathin Marayathu', 'Thira', and 'Jacobinte Swargarajyam'.
