Apple TV+ on Tuesday greenlit a seventh season for its BAFTA and Emmy-winning dark comedy spy drama 'Slow Horses', which has not yet released a fifth season.
Based on Mick Herron's 'Slough House' novels, the series was famed for Sir Gary Oldman's performance as Jackson Lamb, the wry—yet endearing—and irascible head of a ragtag group of MI5 agents nicknamed the “slow horses”, which also includes River Cartwright (Jack Lowden), Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung), Louisa Guy (Rosalind Eleazar) and Catherine Standish (Saskia Reeves).
This announcement follows the renewal of the sixth season in October 2024, shortly after the end of season four.
“Slow Horses has won fans all over the world with its unique mix of self-deprecating British humor and high-octane action,” explained Jay Hunt, creative director (Europe) at Apple TV+, adding praise for Gary Oldman's performance.
The third season garnered nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations, also securing a win for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

The sixth season, announced last year, will see Lamb's team meet new characters, new threats, and political movements like Brexit. It will likely be based on the sixth and seventh novels in the series. The six-episode seventh season will be based on the eighth book in the series, and will feature Lamb and his crew in pursuit of a mole inside the British government.
Produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films and directed by Robert McKillop, the fifth season of the hit TV series is set to release on September 24 this year. Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Dan Hassid, Mick Herron, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski and Oldman himself are serving as executive producers.
