Apple TV+ has unveiled the first look and teaser of Season 5 of the much-loved Slow Horses. The next chapter of the acclaimed, multiple Emmy and BAFTA-winner fronted by Gary Oldman will premiere on the streamer on September 24, 2025 with two episodes, followed by one episode per week leading up to the finale on October 22, 2025.

Saul Metzstein, who directed the Emmy-nominated Season 3, is directing Season 5, which will run for six episodes. Gary Oldman reprises his role of the shabby, curmudgeon leader of the band of eccentric, misfit spies working in the shoddy basement-style espionage department "Slough House", so named for the reason that it employs the "flawed" members of MI5.

Based on the 'Slough House' series of books penned by Mick Herron, Slow Horses is a prime example of a show that got better with each new season, earning acclaim for the cast and crew, with Oldman earning the Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Emmy nominations for his stupendous performance. Combining elements of the dark comedy and espionage thriller, the show became an instant hit with fans owing to its exceptional writing, performances, and top-notch production value.

Season 1, which premiered on April 1, 2022 (how fitting!), was based on the first 'Slough House' book 'Slow Horses', while the second, third and fourth seasons were adaptations of 'Dead Lions', 'Real Tigers', and 'Spook Street', respectively. The fifth season is based on the novel 'London Rules'. A sixth season has also been greenlit.

As per the official logline of Apple TV+, "In season five of “Slow Horses,” everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend. When a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, the London Rules — cover your back — always apply."

Aside from Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, James Callis, Tom Brooke and Jonathan Pryce, Season five will see the appearance of Ted Lasso actor Nick Mohammed in a guest appearance.

Created by Will Smith, Slow Horses is backed by See-Saw Films, with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Smith and Graham Yost serving as executive producers.
