With the addition of Apple TV+ to its growing repertoire of add-on subscription services on April 2, Amazon Prime Video brought a whole array of masterpieces to Indian OTT audiences at a price of Rs.99 per month.
“We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library of series and films from the world’s greatest storytellers available to audiences around the world,” says Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of Services, in an announcement on the Prime Video website.
Prime Video India now offers over 75,000 hours of content across more than 25 add-on subscription partners, seeking to provide a seamless entertainment experience through unified content discovery, watchlists, and billing.
Over the past few weeks, Apple TV has released exciting trailers for their upcoming films, all of which are set to release in 2025. Here are five promising ones:
Murderbot (May 16)
Based on Martha Wells' 'The Murderbot Diaries', a wry, darkly-humorous work of science fiction, the show follows a rogue security robot, played by Alexander Skarsgård, who gains free will and tries to understand life, all while trying to trying to binge watch soap operas and protecting scientists in space.
Fountain of Youth (May 23)
This fantasy film follows the journey of two estranged siblings — played by Academy Award-winner Natalie Portman and John Krasinski ('Jack Ryan', 'The Office') — in a quest to find the mythical Fountain of Youth, and each other. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the film also features Domnhall Gleeson and Stanley Tucci alongside the central characters.
F1 (June 27)
Boasting an ensemble cast of Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, 'The Crown' fame Tobias Menzies, Kerry Condon (from 'The Banshees of Inisherin'), and Damson Idris, the film involves fictional F1 racing legend Sonny Hayes coaxed out of retirement to mentor Joshua Pearce, a young, upcoming driver.
Chief of War (August 1)
Spearheaded by Jason Momoa, who also starred in See (2019-22), a pulse-pounding apocalyptic science-fiction series from Apple TV, this drama miniseries follows Native Hawaiian warrior Ka'iana's bloody campaign to unite the Hawaiian Islands against the threat of colonisation.
Stick (June 1)
The 10-episode show, directed by 'Little Miss Sunshine' fame Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, features comedy superstar Owen Wilson in the lead as Pryce Cahill, a former golf pro whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago.
Apple TV's summer preview for 2025 also showcased most of these films and TV shows, in addition to returning seasons of popular shows like The Morning Show and Slow Horses.
