RM and V, members of the popular Korean band BTS, have been discharged from their 18-month mandatory military service. Band members Jimin and Jungkook, who enlisted together, are to be discharged tomorrow.
The two bandmates who were released today emerged from the green gates while the press took photos. RM hilariously played a tune out of an anime on his saxophone, getting down on his knees while V was holding two massive flower bouquets. When the press asked them what they wanted the most after service, the members jointly agreed that they wanted to return to the stage. RM said that they would come back with an album soon to make it possible.
The seven members of BTS will be reunited on June 21, as SUGA, who served an alternate service due to a past injury, will be the final member to be discharged.
Coincidentally, the band's reunion is in the same month as BTS Festa, an annual celebration of their debut. During Festa week, which usually begins on the first of June, the band releases a variety of content for fans. These include photoshoots, special live programs, songs, video content and even concerts. This year, members Jin and j-hope, who were the first two members discharged from the service, prepared special content for the fans. Posters saying, “We are Back,” with the BTS logo, were seen around Seoul announcing the band's reunion.
This year, on their debut anniversary, j-hope will be performing the encore concert of his successful and sold-out world tour 'Hope on the Stage' at Goyang Stadium in Seoul. Fans all over the world have travelled to the city for both the concert and the Festa events.
A massive crowd of ARMYs gathered outside the Hybe Corporation building, BTS’s label, waiting to welcome them. Fans also took to social media to share both memes and emotional posts showing their excitement for the band's reunion.
