Shah Rukh Khan to reprise his role as Pathaan for a sequel. The actor joined the YRF Spyverse in 2023, directed by Siddharth Anand, which also starred Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Salman Khan made a cameo in the film.
Director-producer Aditya Chopra has worked on the script for the film, the eighth instalment of the Spyverse consisting of Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan playing R&AW agents. Pathaan 2 will precede Tiger vs Pathaan. The shooting of Pathaan 2 is set to begin by the end of 2024.
According to a source, “Pathaan 2 will predate Tiger vs Pathaan and will set up the clash of two cinematic legends on the big screen. Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan is definitely a character that has resonated with the audiences, and there is a constant on-ground demand from the audience to see more of SRK in the spy avatar.” Other movies in the Spyverse are Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and War 2. An untitled Alia Bhatt film is in the works too.
Pathaan grossed Rs 540 crore in India.
