Kavita Chaudhary of 'Udaan' fame dies due to cardiac arrest

Chaudhary was also known as Lalitaji in the Surf detergent commercials

Udaan actor Kavita Chaudhary, known for playing Kalyani Singh in the 1989 television show died of cardiac arrest. She was 67. She was battling cancer for years.

"She passed away following cardiac arrest last night around 8.30 pm in Amritsar at the hospital. She was admitted to the hospital a few days ago due to low blood pressure. Her condition became critical later," Ajay Sayal, Chaudhary's nephew, told PTI.

Chaudhary was also known as Lalitaji in the Surf detergent commercials in India in the late 1980s. The actor is survived by Sayal and her niece. 

Chaudhary did not only act in Udaan but also wrote and directed it. She has also produced shows on Doordarshan like Your Honour" and "IPS Diaries". 

The series also starred Shekhar Kapur. The critically-acclaimed show was brought back on Doordarshan for a re-run during the pandemic. Actor Amit Behl paid tribute to the actor. "RIP Kavita Chaudhary, is baar aapne lambi udaan bhar li,Naman @CintaaOfficial @nsd_india," he wrote on X.
