Ever since the release of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva last year, there have been many speculations about who will essay the role of Dev in the sequel. The much anticipated Part Two: Deva will revolve around the character Dev, father of Shiva (essayed by Ranbir in the first film).

Dev is also the antagonist in the mythological sci-fi movie helmed by Ayan Mukerji.

While multiple theories were floated around Dev's character, some fans speculated that Ranbir might play a double role (as father and son) in the much-anticipated film which is the second in the trilogy. However, according to reports on Saturday, Ranveer Singh is set to essay the role of Dev. Hrithik Roshan and Kannada actor Yash were the other names that were doing the rounds.

Speaking to News18, a source said: “Ranveer Singh has signed the dotted line. The scripting for the second part is still in progress and the film is expected to roll in 2025. Currently, Ayan is busy with War 2 and Ranveer will also begin shooting for Baiju Bawra this year. So, when Brahmastra 2 will go on floors is still unclear.”

Besides Ranbir, the first part also featured Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan. This is the first time that Bollywood couples Ranbir and Alia, Ranveer and Deepika Padukone will come together for a film. Deepika plays Ranbir's mother in Brahmastra.

The Brahmastra films are part of director Ayan's Astraverse franchise. According to reports, the franchise is set to get bigger with the upcoming films as well as spin-offs for various characters in the film.
