Dwayne Johnson announces 'Fast & Furious' return, ends feud with Vin Diesel

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will return for the next Fast & Furious movie, the actor confirmed on Thursday. The actor bowed out of the successful franchise in 2021 due to differences with former co-star Vin Diesel. The latest movie in the franchise, Fast X, starring Diesel and Jason Momoa released last month.

“The next Fast & Furious film you’ll see the legendary lawman in will be the HOBBS movie that will serve as a fresh, new chapter and set up for FASTX: Part II,” Johnson said in a Twitter post. He further said: “Last summer Vin and I put all the past behind us. We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve - and always take care of the franchise, characters & fans that we love.” The actor added that he has always put the audience first, and will continue to do so.

Johnson entered the franchise with 2011’s Fast Five as an agent of the Diplomatic Security Service. He reprised the role in 2013’s Fast & Furious 6, 2015’s Furious 7 and 2017’s The Fate of the Furious. The actor also featured in a 2019 spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw, alongside Jason Statham.

The feud grabbed headlines on 2016 when Johnson shared a controversial Instagram post about an unnamed male co-star, which he later confirmed to be Diesel. “Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken s**t to do anything about it anyway. Candy a**es. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling—you’re right,” he wrote in the now-deleted post. Last year, he refused Diesel's public offer to return to the franchise, and also accused the actor of 'manipulation' by bringing in Paul Walker's death and his children in a post.
