Release of 'Avatar 2' banned in Kerala

Move comes after distribution company sought 60 pc of share from collections

The Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK), on Tuesday, said the upcoming Hollywood movie Avatar : The Way of Water will not be allowed to screen in Kerala. The movie is set to hit theatres on December 16

The decision was made after the distribution company demanded 60 per cent of share from collections in the first week itself. FEUOK said they are not willing to offer more than 55 per cent of the shares.

If a consensus is not arrived before the release date, fans of the James Cameron directorial will not get a chance to catch the visual extravaganza in theatres.

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure."

The sequel features Sam Worthington's Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana's Na'vi Neytiri and their family. Actors Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Kate Winslet round out the cast.
