Ahead of the release of SS Rajamouli's multi-starrer RRR with Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead, netizens from Karnataka have been trending #BoycottRRRinKarnataka on Twitter. They are upset that advance booking is not available for Kannada dubbed version of the movie.
The movie will be releasing in five languages—Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi.
Many took to Twitter to post screenshots of ticket booking portals to show that only Telugu version of the movie is available for booking. They claimed that the makers of the movie are giving less preference to Kannada as there is less number of shows for the Kannada version of the movie.
High time to trend #BoycottRRRinKarnataka.

Stop dumping Telugu on Kannadigas.
KFI heroes may be spineless but Kannadigas are not. @nimmaupendra @NimmaShivanna @ssrajamouli @aliaa08 @ajaydevgn @dasadarshan @KicchaSudeep @rakshitshetty @shetty_rishab @ShyamSPrasad https://t.co/Wyb9IxZ9Tg
One of the Twitter users pointed out that the makers chose to do this despite a request from Kannada superstar Shivrajkumar that there should be as many Kannada shows as possible for the movie.

RESPECT MATTERS MORE THEN BUSINESSES pic.twitter.com/1DYZRvTdv3
Calling it an "insult to Kannada people" another user pointed out that the same thing had happened when Pushpa and Radhe Shyam were released in the state.
However, some users pointed out that the distributors of the movie should be blamed for this.

To all those abusing ss rajamouli... Look how the UK distributor has alloted shows... Its entirely the fault of karnataka distributor.. I dont understand why a businessman wouldn't release in kannada for more reach in rural karnataka pic.twitter.com/5FqrA2nkKP
Another user sought to know why people are not booking for shows that are already opened, and posted a screenshot that showed that hardly any seats were booked for Kannda shows of the movie.

A few days ago, director Rajamouli had said, ""For me, whether it is subtitling or the (original) language, it's just a medium of communication. Those are not important for me. I would rather want my audience to get the story through the visuals, the way actors are performing or how the background score is. That is what I would prefer as a filmmaker."
