On Tuesday morning, Twitter was abuzz with speculations of Kollywood movie Jai Bhim possibly making it to the Oscar nominations. It all began after Hollywood critics on social media mentioned the movie ahead of the nominations.

The New York Times film critic Kyle Buchana had tweeted: “Which Oscar nomination could provoke the biggest reaction from you tomorrow morning?”

Rotten Tomatoes editor Jacqueline Coley, responding to Buchana, said the Suriya-starrer should make it to the 'Best Picture' category at the Academy awards. "Trust me on this one," she wrote.

In another tweet, she said she loved the movie but has "no idea if it will be nominated but I will cheer loudly if it does. Thanks for the love but I don't have any inside information."

The tweets led to much speculations, with fans rooting for the movie to make it to the final list of nominations.

However, the movie failed to make it to the list of 'Best Picture' or 'Best International Feature Film'.

Films included in the 'Best International Feature Film' category are: Drive My Car (Japan), Flee (Denmark), The Hand of God (Italy), Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom (Bhutan) and The Worst Person in the World (Norway).

The Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer The Power of the Dog leads the nominations, with the film getting 12 nods, including the 'Best Pictire', 'Best Director' and 'Actor in a Leading Role'.

Other movies in the 'Best Pictire' category are: Belfast, CODA, Don’t Look Up, Drive My Car, Dune, King Richard, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, and West Side Story.
