Mumbai-born Amrapali Gan has been appointed the chief executive officer of subscription-based social media platform, OnlyFans, popular for hosting adult content. She took over as the CEO on December 21, after Tim Stokely, who has been the CEO of the company for five years, stepped down.

OnlyFans, founded in 2016 by Stokely, became hugely popular during the COVID-19 induced lockdown when many content creators and performers switched over to the platform. The platform, which has over 180 million registered users, allows creators to monetise their content. OnlyFans takes 20 per cent commission on all payments made to the content creators.

"Ami has a deep passion for OnlyFans' business and I'm passing the baton to a friend and colleague who has the vision and drive to help the organisation reach its tremendous potential. OnlyFans is still a new company and Ami brings a fresh energy and reflects who we are as a business," Stokely said in an Instagram post.

Thirty-six-year-old Gan has been with OnlyFans since 2020, working as the chief marketing and communications officer.

Before OnlyFans, Gan was a consultant with Arcade Agency, a curative agency. She worked with Cannabis Café as the vice president, marketing, and as head of brand communications with start-up Quest Nutrition. She also worked with Red Bull Media House.

Born in Mumbai, Gan completed her graduation from California State University. She is currently based in California.

"This is an incredible moment. I’m honoured to be taking the reins from my friend and colleague, @timstokely! @onlyfans is an incredible social media platform and I look forward to continuing to create unparalleled opportunities for our community!" she wrote on Instagram, sharing a news clipping of her appointment.
