'Marakkar' becomes 'first Indian film to enter 100 crore club through reservations alone'

The Mohanlal-starrer hits cinemas on Thursday

The highly awaited Mohanlal-starrer Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham has already entered the 100-crore club even before its release. The film is slated hit cinemas on Thursday.

Taking to social media, Mohanlal shared a poster of the movie which read: “The first Indian movie to enter the 100 crore club worldwide through reservations alone.”

The film will be released in as many as 4,100 screens worldwide. In Kerala alone, it will be released in 626 out of the 631 screens. Irrespective of Marakkar reviews, the film is expected to attract a large number of people to the theatres as it is the first big budget superstar Mollywood cinema to hit the screens after the pandemic.

Directed by Priyadarshan, the film, said to have been made on a budget of 100 crore, follows the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV, who was the naval chief of the Zamorin of Calicut.

Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham also stars Sunil Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Prabhu, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan.

The film will also be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
