Mumbai Police, on Monday, claimed that businessman Raj Kundra, arrested in connection with alleged creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps, destroyed evidence.

The police told Bombay High Court, which was hearing a petition by Kundra challenging his arrest, that Kundra and his associate Ryan Thorpe deleted some WhatsApp chats and other data and added that they do not know how much data has been deleted.

"The attitude of the applicant Raj Kundra speaks volume of his cooperation in the investigation," the police told the court.

"If they (the accused) are trying to destroy evidence, is the investigating agency supposed to be a mere spectator?," the police asked.

The court was told that Kundra deleted his iCloud account but the police discovered adult content on his laptop.

Kundra's counsel Abad Ponda pointed out that the police seized two hard disks, a laptop and a mobile phone from the accused and sought to know how his client can delete content when the gadgets are with police. "It is contrary to the facts of the case. It is not their case that we deleted during the panchanama....we can't delete once the devices are with them. Nobody can delete data in their presence and escape," Ponda said.
