The Bombay High Court on Thursday adjourned the matter of Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut’s office demolition till September 22. Kangana’s lawyer has sought time to respond to the affidavit filed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The BMC had filed a reply in the court in response to Kangana challenging the civic body’s decision to demolish “illegal” alterations to her bungalow and office building.

The civic body told the Bombay High Court that as per records, Kangana had been carrying out “substantial alterations” to her property “contrary to the sanctioned plan”. It further said that the demolition exercise was justified and “without malafide”.

The Bombay High Court had stayed the demolition of the alleged alterations to the National Award-winning actor’s property on Wednesday just hours after the BMC decided to go ahead with the activity to bring it down in a hasty manner.

Kangana’s lawyer had alleged that the civic body swooped in to bring down the unauthorised structure without even formally rejecting the actor’s response to the notice served to her.

The actor, meanwhile, has attacked the BMC, Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for trying to break her spirit and oppress her voice by flexing their political muscles. The Shiv Sena retaliated after Kangana said that Mumbai felt like Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and she feared living there, and Sena leader and spokesperson Sanjay Raut told her to never return to the city.

Kangana also took to Twitter to address the chief minister and said that like her house was demolished, their ego will be destroyed.

“You think you have taken a huge revenge by destroying my house in collusion with the movie mafia. Today my house is destroyed, tomorrow it will be your ego. The wheels of time keep changing,” she said in video message in Hindi.
