Mollywood's most popular bodyguard Maranalloor Das passed away recently at the age of 47. According to reports, Das was undergoing treatment for jaundice at the medical college hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

Das has remained a permanent presence at manor shooting locations that involved superstars, protecting them from the public, and at events related to field of cinema. Das and his team were also in charge of security at the International Film Festival of Kerala for the past many years, TNIE reported.

Several Mollywood stars including Mammootty, Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Manju Warrier and Dulquer Salmaan among others took to social media to condole his death. Mammootty and Mohanlal posted a picture of Das with notes of condolence.

Actor Salim Kumar also recalled the tall Das, who would fondly call him 'Anna'. The news of Das's death has left him numb, Salim Kumar said.

Actor Dulquer Salmaan posted an elaborate, heartfelt note that pretty much sums up what Das meant to those in Mollywood. Dulquer wrote, “Deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Das. He was a big personality. You couldn’t miss him. Most shoots, and especially at events and shows you were sure to find him. He stood out from all the others doing the same job. Somehow it was reassuring to know that if Das was present, things were probably under control. He was one of the first industry personalities I discovered. Unique to our industry. Unique to Malayalam. He never really had a title. But everyone knew him and knew of him. I guess he never needed one. He was just him. Das. He will be missed. More than he would know. Prayers and condolences to his family.”
