Social media hatred is nothing new for actress Swara Bhasker who is known for voicing her opinions and has been an open critic of the BJP’s policies. She celebrated her birthday on Thursday. While she received wishes from fans and other celebrities, the trolls also did not spare a chance to take a dig at the actress. However, standup comedian Kunal Kamra was also trending on Friday, because of his birthday wish for Swara.

Posting a picture of himself with Swara, he tweeted: “Wishing comrade @ReallySwara a really happy 26th birthday.” This kicked off an avalanche of trolls, some of them who even equated them to toilet-cleaning products. The usage of the word ‘comrade, too, did not go down well with many users. What was also ridiculed was the factual error in Kunal’s tweet in which he said she had turned 26. Many users ridiculed how the actress could be so young and even posted screenshots of Wikipedia page that revealed it was in fact her 32nd birthday.
Taking things further, some of the users took to passing vulgar comments and below-the-belt jokes about Swara and Kunal. Swara had faced massive social media hatred for her masturbation scene in the movie Veere Di Wedding.

On Friday, Swara tweeted a screenshot of her video chats with friends as the actress celebrated her birthday amid the lockdown. “Had the most unbelievably fun virtual birthday party, with across countries & continents. FOUR HOURS complete with games & performances! U guys r literally THE BEST people ever! I have no words to tell you’ll how lucky I am that you’ll are my friends like family,” she wrote.

She also took to Instagram stories to share photos of the dates cake she baked on her birthday. She also received a birthday wish from her Veere Di Wedding costar Sonam Kapoor. Sonam wrote: "Happiest Birthday Swaru! Your courage and spunk is so inspiring. Never stop being you. Wishing you all the love and happiness in the world! Can't wait to celebrate with you once this is over! Love you behen."
