Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has tweeted that the number of his followers on Twitter has been drastically reduced.

Kashyap, who has been quite vocal in his stand on the Citizenship Amendment and Act and various other issues in the part, used to have more than five lakh followers on Twitter. Currently, this number has come down to over 95,000 followers.

Sharing a screenshot of the reduced number of followers, the Gangs of Wasseypur director tweeted, "And @TwitterIndia has drastically reduced my followers." At the time he posted, he had only over 75k followers. The number has increased later.

Noted journalist Barkha Dutt, responding to the director's tweet, wrote that the number of her Twitter followers too was capped a year ago.

One of his followers tweeted, "Yes, I was also following u. It shows not following now." The sentiment was echoed by several other people who used to follow the director on Twitter. "I was following you. Just checked right now and your account got unfollowed by mine automatically. What’s happening @TwitterIndia," questioned a user.

Kashyap had gone on a self-imposed Twitter sabbatical in protest against the threats he has been receiving on the social media for his anti-government Tweets. He came back to the platform to express his opinions on the Citizenship Amendment Act.
