Kumbalangi Nights was one of the finest Malayalam movies to be released in the recent times. Directed by Madhu C. Narayanan and written by Syam Pushkaran, the movie narrated the story of four brothers who try to make sense out of a world that considers them outcast.
Sri Lankan actor Dinara Punchihewa, who was in Kerala to attend the International Film Festival of Kerala, revealed that she watched Kumbalangi Nights and was impressed by it. The actor said the movie has become one of her favourites and added that she wants to watch more Malayalam movies, reported The News Minute. Punchihewa's movie Gaadi was screened at the festival.

The movie had Fahadh Faasil, Soubin Shahir, Shane Nigam, Sreenath Bhasi and new comer Anna Ben in the lead roles. The film revolves around four half-brothers Saji (Soubin Shahir), Bobby (Shane Nigam), Bony (Sreenath Bhasi) and Franky (Matthew Thomas) who live in a fishing hamlet called Kumbalangi. They share a less love-more hate relationship. When Bobby falls in love with Baby, things change for the four brothers.
The movie was jointly produced by Fahadh Faasil, his wife and actor Nazriya Nazim, director Dileesh Pothan, and Syam Pushkaran. The movie was released to high praise with the reviewers lauding the storyline, performances and cinematography. The movie also turned out to be a commercial success.
