Malayalam actor Santosh K Nayar has died after sustaining critical injuries in a car accident near Enath, Adoor at the age of 65. His last film appearance was in Bharatanatyam 2: Mohiniyattam

Malayalam actor Santosh K Nayar has died after sustaining injuries in a car accident near Enath, Adoor near Pathanamthitta.

The accident occurred at around 6:30 am on Tuesday when a truck collided with the car he was driving at the Puthussery stretch travelling from Thirvananthapuram to Kottayam.

The 65-year-old actor sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital. He died due to a heart attack during treatment.

His wife had also sustained serious injuries during the accident

Santhosh Kesavan Nayar made his acting debut in 1982 in the film Ithu Njangalude Katha. He was known for his portrayal of a wide range of characters, including lead roles, supporting roles, villains, and comedic parts.

He has acted in more than 100 films and was also well known in the television serial industry.

Santhosh Nayar was born on on November 12, 1960, in Thiruvanathapuram. His father was a retired headmaster, and his mother was a retired teacher. After his parents moved to Ethiopia, he was raised by his grandmother with his two sisters.

He was also actor Mohanlal’s junior at Mahatma Gandhi College where he had pursued higher studies in mathematics.

His most recent appearance was in the film Bharatanatyam 2: Mohiniyattam, which was released on April 10 and is still running in theatres. The film is now his final on-screen appearance.

The film, a sequel to Bharatanatyam (2024) will begin streaming on Netflix on May 8. Directed by Krishnadas Murali, the movie stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, Santhosh Nair, Vinay Fort, and Jagadish.
