It is an exciting day for streaming platforms Netflix and Amazon Prime Video in India, as they await the winners of the International Emmy Awards 2019. India has bagged four nominations—Sacred Games for best drama, Radhika Apte in Lust Stories for best actress, Lust Stories for best TV movie, and The Remix for best reality TV.
The International Emmys are a completely different from the Emmys, and will be hosted on Monday evening (Tuesday morning in India) in the US. Radhika Apte, who was very excited on being presented the 'nomination medal' shared the picture on Instagram and wrote: "Nomination medal! Thank you International Emmys! Every nominee was given a medal today... So honoured! Looking forward to the main ceremony on Monday.”
Actress Kubbra Sait, who features in Sacred Games will be representing the show at the awards. She said last week: "I am putting it out there in the universe everyday that we are coming back with the winning trophy.”
Sacred Games was nominated alongside Brazil's Contra Todos - season three, Germany's Bad Banks and UK's McMafia, which also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a key role. Anthology film Lust Stories with Brazil's Se Eu Fechar Os Olhos Agora, Hungary's Trezor and Australia's Safe Harbour.
Radhika Apte wwas nominated alongwith Jenna Coleman for The Cry, Marjorie Estiano for Brazil's Sob Pressao 2 and Marina Gera for Hungary's Orok Tel. The Remix is competing with nominees from Argentina, Belgium and the UK.
Nominees this year span 21 countries across 11 categories with Brazil and the UK leading the list. Other countries with more than one nod include Germany, Australia, Belgium, Argentina, Hungary and India.
