Anurag Kashyap’s gangster thriller Gangs Of Wasseypur received the unique distinction of being featured in the The Guardian list of 100 Best Films of the 21st century. Gangs Of Wasseypur is the only Indian movie to have made to the list.

The director, on Saturday, took to Instagram to share the news. "Guardian’s list of 100 best film of 21st century . Proud to be here but this wouldn’t be my list. So many films which are my favourites can’t be below my film.. and “the Dark Knight” deserves to be way up. The number 1 film in the list I totally agree with. That’s my absolute favourite of the 21st century."

"P.S. this is also is that film of mine that totally destroyed my filmmaking life by the expectations it sets from me as a filmmaker and has been continuously so , and I have forever been trying to break away from it. Hopefully someday that will happen," he added.

Gangs Of Wasseypur is the 59th film in the list. Paul Thomas Anderson masterpiece There Will Be Blood is the first movie in the list. Some of the notable inclusions in the list are Wong Kar-Wai’s In the Mood for Love (5th) Barry Jenkins’s coming-of-age drama Moonlight (8th), David Lynch's Mulholland Drive (11th) Palme d’Or winner Shoplifters (15th), Alfonso Cuarón's Roma (20th) and Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat (23rd).
