While the festive season of Onam gives foodies plenty of reasons to cheer, there is another section people who eagerly wait for the season—movie buffs. Every year, a couple of movies featuring leading stars are released during this season. This year too is no different.

Gearing up for Onam release are three movies: Ittymaani: Made In China, starring Mohanlal; Brothers Day with Prithviraj in the lead, and Love Action Drama, starring Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara.

After the huge success of the political thriller Lucifer, Mohanlal will be seen in a comical avatar in Ittymaani: Made In China. Directed by debutante duo Jibi and Joju, the movie has already generated much interest among the fans because of the different looks of the lead actor and the trailer in which Mohanlal was heard speaking in Mandarin with K.P.A.C. Lalitha. Mohanlal plays Ittymaani, who is based in Thrissur but has a Chinese connection.

It has been quite some time that the fans of the actor have seen him donning a comical suit. Joju had said the movie will remind people of the actor's evergreen comedy hits like Vellanakalude Naadu, Chithram and Kilukkam. The movie, produced by Antony Perumbavoor, also stars Honey Rose, Aju Varghese, Raadhika, Salim Kumar, and Siddhique in the lead. Parts of the movie was shot in China and Joju had reportedly said China has a significant role in the movie.

Directed by Kalabhavan Shajon, Brothers Day is touted to be an action-comedy entertainer with all the right ingredients for a festival release. The movie also stars Aishwarya Lakshmi, Pragya Martin, Vijayaraghavan, Miya George, Aima. Brothers Day marks the directorial debut of Shajon. Tamil actor Prasanna plays the antagonist in the movie. The director had assured that Brothers Day will be a complete entertainment package with action, comedy, drama and songs.

Love Action Drama marks the return of lady superstar Nayanthara into Mollywood. She is paired opposite to Nivin Pauly in what is expected to be a comedy-romance affair and a tribute to Vadakkunokkiyantram, an iconic black comedy movie released in 1989. Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara play Dineshan and Shobha—these are the name of the lead characters in Vadakkunokkiyantram, directed by Sreenivasan and starring himself and Parvathy Jayaram. Love Action Drama is directed by Sreenivasan's son Dhyan Sreenivasan.

The movie also stars Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Sreenivasan, and Renji Panicker. Dhyan had earlier clarified that although Nivin Pauly's character is named Dineshan and has a few traits similar to the character in Vadakkunokkiyantram, the similarities end there.
