After Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth hailed Union Home Minister Amit Shah for abrogating Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and described the Narendra Modi-Shah duo as "Krishna and Arjuna," another Tamil actor expressed his views on the government move.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi flayed the Union government over its decision to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution without taking into the views of Kashmiris and called it a move against democracy.

According to a New Minute report, 'Makkal Selvan' who was in Australia to take part in the Indian Film Festival in Melbourne, in an interview to SBS Tamil Australia quoted social activist Periyar and said the activist-politician had said people themselves should decide and solve their problems. "Can I interfere in the affairs of your house? It is you who live there… I can be concerned about you, but cannot impose my decisions on you," he was quoted as saying.

He further said he was pained by the reports that he read about Kashmir and added that people outside Kashmir should not be giving them suggestions.

After the government announced its decision to repeal Article 370 and split the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories, actor Amala Paul had said according to her, the decision is a "a healthy, hopeful, and much needed change," and hailed PM Modi for the move, calling him a courageous leader.

Rajinikanth, meanwhile, had praised the Modi-Shah duo saying, "My heartfelt congratulations to Amit Shah for Mission Kashmir. Hats off.”
