When it comes to issues of national importance, celebrities often take a stand and express their views on their social media platforms.

Whether it is the entry of women into Sabarimal temple or the demonetisation, many celebrities have had their own viewpoints and they had expressed their without bothering about possibly offending a section of people.

On Monday, when Narendra Modi government announced its decision to repeal Article 370 and split the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories, many Bollywood celebrities came out to congratulate. But surprisingly, south stars have maintained silence and did not respond to the ongoing debate.

However, there was one actor who dared to speak her mind—Amala Paul. Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a 'courageous leader', Amala Paul shared a photo of India's map with a saffron-coloured turban over J&K.

#Article370Abolished : IMO it's a healthy, hopeful, and much needed change.

The people of Kashmir deserve better education, development and peace; Hope the abolishing of #Article370 will clear the way for massive development in J&K. It’s not an easy task!

Only a courageous leader like our honorable PMO @narendramodi can implement decisions like these. Praying for peaceful days ahead,” she wrote.

Amala Paul, who is quite active on social media platforms in posting her movie updates and photoshoots, surprised her fans with this post. While a few of them applauded her for speaking her heart out, many commented that they never expected such a stand from the star. Many even sarcastically took a jibe by thanking her in letting them know of her stand so as to unfollow her.

While many prominent stars continue to keep mum over the scenario, actor-politician Kamal Haasan is yet another celeb who termed the decision as 'extremely regressive and autocratic and a clear assault on democracy'. Many of the Bollywood biggies including Kangana Ranaut had congratulated the entire nation on the historic day.
