Warner Bros. has just released the much awaited trailer of Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix in the lead.
Joker, directed by Todd Phillips tells the origin story of Batman's most famous foe, beginning from his initial days as a failed stand-up comedian disregarded by everyone to his gradual descend into total insanity.
The trailer begins with the recollections of Arthur Fleck who remembers how his mother always used to tell him to smile and put on a happy face. It goes to show how Arthur faces rejection and ridicule from almost everyone, making him to doubt his own sanity and how he gets reborn as the most famous villain in the DC universe.
The trailer establishes the tone of Arthur’s character and delving straight into the origin story while suggesting the degradation of Gotham city. We also get to see Arkham Asylum and a few patients there.
The movie also stars Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Douglas Hodge, Bill Camp, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, and Frances Conroy.
