Actress Sonali Bendre who was recently diagnosed with cancer, returned to Mumbai on Monday morning, after undergoing treatment in New York. “Sonali is doing good and she is back for good. She is recovering very well. Thank you all for the love and support,” said Sonali's husband Goldie Behl.
He added: “There is nothing as such she will have to go back for. I am very happy she is back home. Like any other patient, she will have to go for regular checkups. She is a very strong and determined woman and I am proud of her.”
Sonali had shared on Instagram about her return. "They say 'Distance makes the heart grow fonder'. It sure does. But let's never underestimate what distance teaches you. Being away from home in the city of New York, I realised I was walking amongst so many stories. Each trying to write their own chapter in different ways. Each struggling to do it but never giving up. Each taking it #OneDayAtATime."
She further said, she is now her way back, to "where her heart is".
In the first week of July, Sonali had revealed that she has been diagnosed with a "high grade cancer" and was undergoing treatment in New York. In an emotional statement, the actor had then said the cancer metastised which "we frankly did not see coming."
