Sridevi, Riddhi Sen, Fahadh Faasil, Divya Dutta bag top honours at National Film Awards

Sridevi bagged the award for best actress (Mom), and Bengali actor Riddhi Sen was declared best actor (Nagarkirtan) at the 65th National Film Awards announced on Friday.

Sridevi was posthumously awarded for her exemplary performance as a mother in the 2017 thriller film directed by Ravi Udyawar. Nagarkirtan also bagged awards in multiple categories, such as the best costume, makeup and special jury. 

Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil bagged the award for Best Male Supporting Actor for Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. Divya Dutta bagged the award for Best Female Supporting Actor for Irada. Assamese film Village Rockstars bagged the award for best film. Best Director Award goes to Jayaraj for Malayalam film Bhayanakam. Best Film on Social Issues for Malayalam film 'Aalorukkam'. Veteran singer K.J. Yesudas was recognised as the best male singer for his song Poy Maranja Kalam in the Malayalam film Viswasapoorvam Mansoor, while the best female singer went to Shashaa Tirupati for the song Vaan for Kaatru Veliyidai.

The jury was headed by renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. The 10-member panel comprises screenwriter Imtiaz Hussain, lyricist Mehboob, actress Gautami Tadimalla and Kannada director P. Sheshadri among others. 

Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman swept the best music direction category by winning the best songs for the Tamil Film Kaatru Veliyidai and the best background music for the Hindi film Mom. Mainstream blockbuster Baahubali: The Conclusion won national award for best popular film providing wholesome entertainment, besides being named for special effects and action direction. Ganesh Acharya won the choreography award for the Hindi film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

Sinjar, made in Jasari language, won the Indira Gandhi award for the best debut film of a director to Pampally. It was also recognised as the best film in Jasari langauge.

Nargis Dutt award for the best feature film on national integration went to the Marathi film Dhappa.
