Witnesses at the Gunfighter Skies Air Show reported seeing the two aircraft falling to the ground together after the collision. Videos shared on social media showed four parachutes deploying moments before the jets hit the ground.
Emergency response teams rushed to the crash site, while authorities immediately locked down the base following the incident. Organisers later announced the cancellation of the remaining schedule of the two-day air show.
The EA-18G Growler is an electronic warfare aircraft derived from the F/A-18 Super Hornet and is equipped with advanced radar-jamming and surveillance systems.
The cause of the crash remains unclear. The National Weather Service reported good visibility at the time, with wind gusts reaching up to 29 mph (47 kph).
